What a product edit covers
A product image has one job: show the item as it really is, cleanly, in a set where every image matches. That usually means the same handful of fixes on every file.
| Fix | What we do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Background | Cut out and place on pure white, transparent, or a brand color | Marketplaces and catalogs expect a consistent ground |
| Color | Match the product to a reference or color chart shot on set | Wrong color is a common reason for returns |
| Dust and scratches | Remove specks, fingerprints, lint and packaging marks | Close crops show every flaw on glass, metal and plastic |
| Shadows and reflections | Keep, soften or rebuild a natural shadow or a mirror reflection | A product with no shadow looks pasted on |
| Shape and alignment | Straighten, center and crop to your template and margins | Grids of products only look tidy when they line up |
Hard materials
Some products take far longer than others. Glass and clear plastic pick up the studio around them, so we clean reflections without making the bottle look flat. Polished metal and jewelry show every speck and need careful cleanup at high zoom. Clothing needs lint, loose threads and creases handled, and ghost mannequin work joins a front and an inside-back shot so the garment looks worn without a model. Food needs crumbs and drips handled without losing the texture that makes it look real.
Tell us the materials when you ask for a quote. They change the time per image more than anything else.
Getting color right
If you can, shoot a color chart at the start of each lighting setup and send that frame with the set. We build a profile from it and correct every image to the same base. For products where color is a selling point, such as paint, fabric or cosmetics, send the physical color reference or the brand's color values too.
Files we deliver
JPEG, PNG, TIFF or layered PSD, in sRGB for web or another profile on request, sized and named to your template. Transparent PNG cutouts and clipping paths are available for designers who need them.
Questions
Can you meet marketplace image rules?
Yes. Tell us the marketplace and we'll set the background, margins and pixel size to its current rules. Rules change, so send the latest guidance if you have it.
Do you handle ghost mannequin edits?
Yes. Shoot the garment on the mannequin and then the inside back or collar, and we combine them.
